🎭The Christians – A Powerful Season Finale by The Wayward Artist

What happens when faith is tested, beliefs are challenged, and a congregation is forced to choose?

Get Your Tickets Here

In Lucas Hnath’s gripping drama The Christians, a megachurch pastor delivers a shocking sermon that shakes his church to its core. As tensions rise and loyalties are questioned, this remarkable play explores belief, doubt, and the cost of conviction.

A story that speaks to both conservative and progressive Christians, The Christians invites us to wrestle with deep divides in faith and the search for common ground. Who says red and blue can’t come together?

🗣️ Join the conversation! Each performance will be followed by a live talkback with the cast and creative team.

🎵The IUCC Chancel Choir will perform on Opening Night (Nov. 14) and Saturday, Nov. 15.

IUCC members receive $10 off by using code IUCC at checkout.

📅November 14–23, 2025 – Directed by Pastor Craig Tyrl with an extraordinary cast.

📍Performed at The Wayward Artist @ IUCC

🎫Tickets available now: thewaywardartist.org/christians

  • Friday/Saturday Nov 14, 15, 21, 22 at 7:30pm

  • Sunday Nov 16 and 23 at 7:00PM

Braver Angels with John & Aime Black

IUCC Adult Education & EiW TP are pleased to invite you to Braver Angels with John & Aime Black Sunday, Nov 9, from 11:00 am to noon (during the adult education hour).

Braver Angels is a national movement committed to bridging the partisan divide and helping Americans — regardless of political persuasion — rediscover respectful, courageous conversation.

Braver Angels+2Braver Angels+2

Irvine Unified School District has partnered in this effort, training students and staff in civil communication skills to reduce confrontation and promote understanding — very much in line with EiW TP’s spirit.

John Black is a retired Marine who brings the conservative voice to leadership in Orange County’s Braver Angels chapter. This session gives us a twofold opportunity:

  • Learn concrete skills to help us engage across differences

  • Share our views on pressing issues, and see how we might be heard by those on the "other side"

To get the most out of this, please invite friends (especially those who might see things differently). The richer the diversity in our conversation, the stronger its impact.

🎞️📖 IUCC’s DEI Book & Film Club - Ida B. Wells Documentary 📰✒️

Exploring Identity, Justice, and Community Through Story

IUCC’s DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Book & Film Club invites you into meaningful conversations at the intersection of race, gender, class, and belonging. Each month, we engage books, documentaries, and stories that challenge assumptions, amplify marginalized voices, and deepen our collective understanding.

Documentary Discussion – Ida B. Wells

On Tuesday, November 4th, we invite you to join us for a thoughtful conversation around the life and legacy of Ida B. Wells. Please watch the documentary beforehand (link below) so we can dive into an engaging, shared reflection.

Link to the documentary: Watch here

Why this matters: Ida B. Wells was a pioneering African-American journalist, activist, and suffragist who fearlessly documented lynching, challenged injustice, and helped shape the fight for civil rights and women’s rights in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Let’s come together to explore questions such as:

  • What can her story teach us today about justice, truth, and moral courage?

  • In what ways was her work connected to the mission of our faith community?

  • How might we live differently for the sake of the values she embodied?

Bring your thoughts, questions, and reflections — I look forward to our time together in community and conversation.

Please note our new contact email: deibookclub@iucc.org for the Zoom Link all future updates. See you soon!

Lester Ricks: My Kidney Journey & Vision for Support

Saturday, October 18 | 12:00–2:00 PM

Claremont United Church of Christ – Sumner Room

You’re invited to a special lunchtime gathering with Lester Ricks, who will share his incredible journey as a kidney patient—from dialysis through transplant—and his vision for a new support group for kidney patients.

This one-time event is a chance to hear Lester’s story firsthand and help him shape how he shares it with others. It’s not a recruitment meeting—just a heartfelt opportunity for connection, feedback, and reflection.

Enjoy light sandwiches and beverages as we listen, learn, and engage in open conversation.

If you’d like to attend, please email Lester Ricks at gingerbreadman621@gmail.com.
