By popular demand, Music in Common returns to IUCC with their Black Legacy Project! If you missed them the first time, now is your chance to experience an evening of powerful music, honest conversation, and community connection. 🙌🏾❤️
Music in Common strengthens, empowers, and connects communities through the universal language of music. Their work is built on two simple truths: it is hard to hate up close, and music can change the world. 🌍🎤🎶
Music in Common’s Black Legacy Project is a musical celebration of Black history, created to spark racial harmony, build bridges, and deepen partnership. The show entertains, educates, and inspires with reimagined songs, original music, spoken word, and multimedia. Audiences journey through history while reflecting on today’s Black-White race relations in the U.S., experiencing music as a force for human connection and social change. A screening of the Black Legacy Project documentary short will open the event. 🎬🎵
This evening at IUCC will be uplifting, interactive, and rooted in shared humanity. Bring your friends, your curiosity, and your whole self. 🫱🏾🫲🏿🎹✨

Stories of Sacred Disability The Gospel Project Worship
Join us for an Inclusive, Artistic, Embodied Worship with Community
✨The Gospel Project presents ✨
Holy Ground: Disabled Voices, Sacred Stories
📆Saturday, February 28, 2026
As part of The Gospel Project, Holy Ground: Disabled Voices, Sacred Stories invites us into an evening shaped by disabled lives, stories, and spiritual insight. This gathering centers voices too often excluded or sidelined in faith spaces, lifting them up as sacred witnesses whose stories deepen and transform how we understand God, community, and ourselves.
🍽️We begin with a shared meal at 5:30pm, followed by the worship gathering at 7:00pm. As always with The Gospel Project, the table comes first. Community is formed through food, conversation, and presence before we move into music, storytelling, scripture, and prayer.
🎶📖We are honored to welcome the return of the Peppermint Ridge Choir, whose music reflects joy, dignity, and deep community, embodying what it looks like when belonging is practiced and every voice is invited to participate fully. The evening will also feature Rev. Erin Beardemphl, whose pastoral and theological work alongside the Peppermint Ridge community invites the Church to listen more carefully to disabled experience as a source of spiritual truth and theological insight.
💃🏼🎭We are also honored to welcome Straight Up Abilities, an inclusive performing arts organization where artists of all abilities learn, create, and perform together. Through dance, theater, and expressive movement, their work centers access, dignity, and joy, reminding us that creativity is a shared language and that the Spirit moves most freely when every body is invited into the dance.
🎤Our keynote speaker, joining us from St. Louis, is Rev. Barbara “Bobbie” Blunt, an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and Pastor of Buren Chapel A.M.E. Church in Herculaneum, Missouri. A seasoned pastor, chaplain, and community healer, her ministry bridges pulpit, hospital, and street-level outreach, grounded in embodied care, justice, and the sacred worth of every person.
🎵We are also honored to welcome Marleena Barber, a vocalist, cabaret artist, educator, and disability advocate whose work is shaped by lived experience. Her artistry offers audiences a powerful encounter with creativity, presence, and the sacred textures of disabled life.
🌱Joining the lineup is Helena Donato-Sapp, a young artist, poet, and disability justice advocate whose work centers intersectionality, embodiment, and belonging. Through her creative voice and public witness, Helena challenges ableism and invites communities to listen more deeply to disabled wisdom.
🕯️Through music, testimony, scripture, and theatrical storytelling, the night explores how God is revealed through bodies and minds that move through the world differently. Rather than asking how disability can be cured or overcome, this gathering asks what disabled life reveals about God, belonging, and grace.
🤍This evening affirms a simple truth: every embodied life speaks of God. Difference becomes a teacher without being demanded. Access becomes a spiritual practice rather than an afterthought. Community becomes the place where all are seen, heard, and welcomed at the table.
♿This gathering is planned with accessibility and multiple ways of participation in mind. ASL interpreters and childcare will be available.

Sunday services typically include: information about church events, music, prayer, meditation, and a message from the pastor. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month, and everyone is welcome to partake. Our services are also streamed live on Facebook.
Christmas Eve Service
Join us on Christmas Eve at 5:30 PM that celebrates the kindle sparked by the Christ child. We will gather in the glow of music, candlelight, and community. 🎄
🎶 Our Chancel Choir will offer stirring carols that lift the spirit. We are delighted to welcome guest harpist Brian Noel, whose music will bring a shimmering, sacred warmth to the night.
🕯️We will light our candles and share the story of Christ’s birth, and remember that love still enters the world in humble, hopeful ways.
🌟This service is a gentle pause in a busy season—a chance to breathe, listen, and welcome the light that continues to guide us.
It’s a heartfelt way to celebrate the holiday, and we would be honored to share it with you. 💛
The Christmas Fund Collection
The Christmas Fund - together we can offer hope and practical support to those who have dedicated their lives to ministry.
Every gift provides direct financial assistance to retired and active UCC ministers, church workers, and their families. Each gift is a reminder of God’s presence and the Church’s love.
Our 2025 theme speaks to the heart of the season:
“When they saw the star, they were filled with joy.” — Matthew 2:10
If you would like to participate, you can:
• Drop something in the plate on December 21,
• Mail a check to the church (please write Christmas Fund in the memo), or
• Make a gift online and select Christmas Fund as your designation.
May the same joy that guided the Magi fill our congregation as we support those who have served the Church so faithfully.
Sunday Worship - Love
We honor love as the fourth Sunday of Advent
This week is our Christmas Pageant where the children, youth, and other adults will share the message “Where is Hope?”
All are welcome!
We offer two Sunday services: a Traditional Service at 9:30 a.m. and a Contemporary Service at 11:15 a.m. Adult Sunday School is offered during the 11:15 a.m. service. The traditional service features our amazing Chancel Choir singing wonderful anthems tied to the morning’s theme. The contemporary service is more casual, led by an energetic praise group composed of our choral interns. We welcome you to come as you are and dress according to your personal style.
