HOSPITALITY

Extending the Welcome

At IUCC, we firmly believe that sharing delicious food is a powerful way to bring people together and foster lasting friendships.

Our goal at Hospitality (sometimes called the “Ministry of Snacks”) is to help make that possible through Coffee Hour, held both after first and then second service.

  • Our Ministry is Us, Together - Anyone who helps at Coffee Hour

We provide friendly faces and tasty treats during our cherished "Coffee Hour" between services. Whether you're a longtime member or a first-time visitor, there's something truly comforting about gathering with a warm cup of coffee and a delightful pastry in hand. It's these simple pleasures that keep us mingling, reconnecting with old friends, and creating opportunities to meet new ones.

  • The Hospitality Ministry is dedicated to ensuring that Coffee Hour is a highlight of every Sunday by coordinating volunteers and organizing logistics.

The goal: offering a welcoming space where members and visitors alike can relax, enjoy good food, and engage in meaningful conversations. Our wonderful hospitality volunteers coordinate Coffee Hour each week, carefully organizing the logistics to ensure everything runs smoothly. They encourage various groups within the church—whether it's a ministry team, a small group, or a group of friends—to sign up and take a turn providing a delectable spread. The offerings typically include a delightful selection of fruit, pastries, and veggie trays, catering to a variety of tastes and preferences.

  • Nourishing an Environment - Coffee hour is more than offering refreshments; it's about creating an environment where everyone feels encouraged to linger, chat, and enjoy the fellowship that makes our community so special. It's a time to share stories, catch up on the week's events, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a church family. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Coffee Hour makes it the perfect setting for newcomers to feel at ease and for regular attendees to deepen their connections with others.

We strongly believe that these moments of fellowship are essential to the life of our church. They provide an opportunity for us to nurture relationships, support one another, and build the sense of community that is so integral to IUCC. Whether you're reconnecting with a friend you haven’t seen in a while, welcoming a new visitor, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a cup of coffee, Coffee Hour is a time to feel embraced by the warmth and love of our congregation.

Join in!

1) Sign up to Host - sign up as a group, ministry, pod, family, or your own person. It’s a great way to contribute and connect with the wider church community.

2) Join the Coffee Hour Extra Helpers (you will occasionally be emailed to help bring in a small dish to lend a boost to the Sunday’s volunteers)

We invite everyone to consider signing up to host Coffee Hour on a Sunday or two. It's a simple yet impactful way to contribute to the life of the church and ensure that our tradition of hospitality continues to thrive. By volunteering, you'll be helping to create a welcoming atmosphere that makes everyone feel at home and well-fed—both physically and spiritually. Whether you're baking your favorite treats, arranging fruit platters, or simply serving with a smile, your efforts will be deeply appreciated by all who attend.

So, come and be a part of this beloved ministry! Together, we can continue to make Coffee Hour a time of joy, connection, and community for everyone at IUCC. It's through these small acts of hospitality that we live out our commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive church, where every person is valued and every friendship is cherished. We look forward to sharing many more Sunday mornings filled with good food, great conversations, and the warmth of fellowship that makes IUCC such a special place.
