Music in Common Concert - Free and open to all!
Saturday, February 7, 2026 • 7:00 PM • Irvine United Congregational Church
By popular demand, Music in Common returns to IUCC with The Black Legacy Project! If you missed them the first time, now is your chance to experience an evening of powerful music, honest conversation, and community connection. See a clip here!
Music in Common strengthens, empowers, and connects communities through the universal language of music. By curating shared experiences that span social divides, Music in Common helps people discover common ground through facilitated conversation and music. Their work centers two foundational principles: it is hard to hate up close, and music can change the world.
The Black Legacy Project is a musical celebration of Black history designed to advance racial solidarity, equity, and belonging. This national initiative brings together artists of all backgrounds to reimagine songs central to the Black American experience, create original music responsive to the calls for change in our time, and engage communities in meaningful dialogue. Songs are shaped by community roundtable discussions and longtime partnerships, and have been developed through residencies across the country.
In addition to live musical performance, the project includes film screenings, conversations, and educational experiences that invite audiences to reflect and connect. Supported by national and local partners, and funded in part by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships and major foundations, The Black Legacy Project has quickly become a dynamic force for creative engagement and community building.
This evening at IUCC will be an uplifting and interactive celebration of music and story, rooted in shared humanity and open to all. Don’t miss this inspiring return performance — bring your friends, your curiosity, and your whole self.
