IUCC’s DEI Book & Film Club

Exploring Identity, Justice, and Community Through Story

September 23–October 28 (9am-10:30am Tuesdays)

We begin our fall book: Mother Emanuel: Two Centuries of Race, Resistance, and Forgiveness in Charleston Church by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Kevin Sack. (View on Amazon )

Hosted by IUCC’s DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Book & Film Club, which invites you into meaningful conversations at the intersection of race, gender, class, and belonging. Each month, we engage books, documentaries, and stories that challenge assumptions, amplify marginalized voices, and deepen our collective understanding.

Readings are broken into weekly chapters. Print copies available in the IUCC office during Plumer Hall renovations.

  • Sept 23: Ch. 1–3 (pp. 1–43)

  • Sept 30: Ch. 4–6 (pp. 44–101)

  • Oct 7: Ch. 7–9 (pp. 102–159)

  • Oct 14: Ch. 10–12 (pp. 160–227)

  • Oct 21: Ch. 13–15 (pp. 228–294)

  • Oct 28: Ch. 16–Epilogue (pp. 295–354)

Come curious. Leave changed.

All are welcome—whether you’ve done the reading or just want to listen and learn.
