COMMA GROUPS (SMALL GROUPS)

Here at Irvine United Congregational Church, we value the relationships formed in small group settings. Through our Comma Groups, we journey together through monthly meetings.

Comma Groups are a vital part of how IUCC members connect as a community.  Groups meet once a month from October through April for food, fellowship, and supportive conversation.

The term “Comma Group” is inspired by the Gracie Allen quote, “Never place a period where God has placed a comma.” The UCC Comma is a new way to proclaim “Our Faith is 2,000 years old, our thinking is not.” The Comma invites us to believe that God speaks through other people, nature, music, art, a theorem, the Bible, and in so many other ways.

Feel Free to email Craig Tyrl or Terry LePage for questions.

Sample Comma Group Topics:

·         What do the sacraments mean to us?

·         Who bears responsibility for the presence of evil in the world – God or us?

·         What does it mean to become a Creation Justice/Green Faith Church?

·         How can we talk about God in ways that affirm progressive, scientific ideas?
