Comma Groups are a vital part of how IUCC members connect as a community.  Groups meet once a month from October through April for food, fellowship, and supportive conversation.

The term “Comma Group” is inspired by the Gracie Allen quote, “Never place a period where God has placed a comma.” The UCC Comma is a new way to proclaim “Our Faith is 2,000 years old, our thinking is not.” The Comma invites us to believe that God speaks through other people, nature, music, art, a theorem, the Bible, and in so many other ways.

Sample Comma Group Topics:

  • What do the sacraments mean to us?
  • Who bears responsibility for the presence of evil in the world – God or us?
  • What does it mean to become a Creation Justice/Green Faith Church?
  • How can we talk about God in ways that affirm progressive, scientific ideas?
